Rangers back Igor Shesterkin (46 saves), double up Wild
- On Saturday night in Saint Paul, the New York Rangers beat the Minnesota Wild 4-2 as Igor Shesterkin made 46 saves, including six in the first period and 20 in each of the final two periods.
- With two quick goals, the Rangers scored on a power play 2:41 after the opening faceoff and then extended their lead with a no-look backhand by Vladislav Gavrikov, as the Wild struggled after a linesman fell ill.
- Playing with a shorthanded officiating crew, the Wild outshot the Rangers 42-9 over the final two periods and 21-1 in the third but could not solve Shesterkin.
- Minnesota now faces momentum questions after the Wild dropped their second straight home game and saw their point streak end at five games.
- Up next for the Rangers: host Los Angeles on Monday, while the NHL monitored weather and travel conditions as Minnesota played without Bobby Brink and Jared Spurgeon appeared in his 1,000th game.
