Rangers 2B Marcus Semien still hopes to play again this season after foot injury

On Aug. 20, Texas Rangers second baseman Marcus Semien fouled a pitch and was placed on the 10-day injured list two days later, but did not entirely rule himself out for the rest of the season.
Medical tests showed Marcus Semien suffered a Lisfranc sprain and fractured third metatarsal after fouling a pitch off his left foot in an Aug. 21 game.
On Wednesday, Semien, no longer wearing a protective boot, said, `Talking to the doctors, in a perfect world, I think six weeks is what you probably need. But right now with where we're at, just trying to push it.`
He hopes to pick a bat back up on the next road trip and, if all goes well, start hitting when the Rangers open against the Houston Astros Monday at Daikin Park, then try running next Friday versus the Miami Marlins.
An initial four-to-six week return timeline would have likely ended Marcus Semien's season, but his durability—missing only six of 615 games and just his second IL stint in 13 big league seasons—offers cautious hope.
