Ubisoft's Shutting Down Rainbow Six Game It Officially Launched in 2026
Ubisoft said the game will remain available until Jan. 15, 2027, as developers move to other long-term projects.
On Thursday, French publisher Ubisoft announced it will "sunset" Rainbow Six Mobile on January 15, 2027, with one final season launching next week before the tactical shooter closes.
Ubisoft Montreal designed the game in 2022 to adapt the Rainbow Six Siege experience for touchscreen devices, aiming to offer accessible gameplay bursts rather than replacing console and Windows versions.
Despite millions of downloads after its global launch in February 2026, Rainbow Six Mobile struggled to retain players, with users criticizing paywalls locking operators and gameplay feeling excessively grindy.
Ubisoft confirmed the development team will "move on to other long-term strategic projects," marking another setback for the publisher's struggling live-service mobile spinoffs of major franchises.
While Rainbow Six Mobile ends, the core Rainbow Six Siege franchise remains popular on Windows, PlayStation, and Xbox Series consoles, with Ubisoft planning a new spinoff, Rainbow Six Tactics, for 2027.
