Around ten thousand people took part in the pride march in Bratislava on Saturday, which is traditionally organized by LGBT+ people as part of the Rainbow Pride program to support and protect the rights of people with non-heterosexual orientation. Conservative activists called their own event in support of the so-called traditional family in another part of the metropolis on the same day. The turnout was significantly lower than at Rainbow Pride.
Two marches with different messages once again passed through Bratislava on Saturday. While PRIDE talked about queer rights and fear, the March for the Family emphasized the protection of the "traditional" family.
Rainbow Pride will take place in the center of Bratislava on Freedom Square on Saturday at noon. The theme of the event, which is intended to make LGBTI+ people in Slovakia more visible, is courage this year.
