Rainbow balloon carrying newly engaged couple lands in middle of Kelowna
A colorful hot air balloon carrying a newly engaged couple landed unexpectedly in a grocery store parking lot in Kelowna on July 7, surprising commuters and making them smile.
The engagement proposal was nearly derailed by a wildfire, but the BC Wildfire Service and local firefighters successfully contained the blaze in time.
The airspace reopened before the flight, allowing the balloon ride to proceed safely after taking off from Scenic Road Cider shortly after sunrise.
Joy Klempner, the business manager of Okanagan Ballooning, stated, "This morning was an engagement. It was a perfect morning.
