Professor Dr. Halim Orta from Namık Kemal University (NKÜ) in Tekirdağ said, "Unfortunately, these heavy and rapid rains don't mean much in terms of groundwater replenishment. Because very rapid rainfall over a certain period of time creates surface runoff. The way to retain this is rainwater harvesting. We need to improve surface water storage structures."
