Raiders Activate Dont'e Thornton Jr. Off Injured Reserve and Waive Jonah Laulu
The rookie wide receiver returned after missing training camp with a hamstring injury and could see early opportunities in a thin receiver room.
On Tuesday, the Las Vegas Raiders activated wide receiver Dont'e Thornton Jr. from Injured Reserve, addressing a critical deadline to either restore him to the active roster or release him.
Thornton missed significant training camp time due to a hamstring injury, prompting the Raiders to place him on Injured Reserve before the season to allow additional recovery.
Outside of Tre Tucker, who recorded 29 catches for 474 yards, the Raiders have relied heavily on tight ends and running back Ashton Jeanty as pass-catchers.
To make roster space, the Raiders waived defensive tackle Jonah Laulu, who had been inactive for the team's recent 35-21 loss to the Los Angeles Rams.
Head coach Klint Kubiak recently praised Thornton's effort but noted he remains in recovery. Jack Bech's 21-day window to return from Injured Reserve opened Monday, offering further depth soon.
