Orléans: a 19-Year-Old Suspect in Custody After the Discovery of Anti-Muslim Stickers

Last week, several stickers had been discovered in downtown Orléans, including the message "no Muslim zone". Others had been glued to the vicinity of the university.

After the discovery of anti-Muslim stickers in Orléans, a 19-year-old man was placed in police custody on Friday, 23 May, as part of an open investigation for incitement to hatred on the grounds of religion. He acknowledged "that he bought these stickers and affixed them".

The prosecutor of the Republic of Orléans states, in a statement transmitted this Friday evening, that the young man arrested on Wednesday admitted, in custody, that he had stuck racist, Islamophobic and neo-Nazi stickers in public space in Orléans. He will be tried on 16 June next.
