Rabies-positive bat identified in Ionia County’s Pewamo
The Ionia County Health Department learned that a bat recently sent to the state lab from the Michigan State University Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (MSU VDL) tested positive for rabies. This is the first case of rabies in an animal in the county this year. No humans have contracted rabies.
