Second case of rabbit fever confirmed in Luxembourg

A second case of tularaemia has been confirmed in Luxembourg by the Ministry of Agriculture, raising concerns after the infected hare was discovered near Wellenstein.

A few days ago, a dead hare was found along a country road near Wellenstein. It was taken Monday to the veterinary and food laboratory (LVA) for examination, as the pathogen of tularemia was detected on 3 April in a hare in Junglinster. Two days later, the authorities had the positive result of the second hare test, as announced on Wednesday by the Ministry of Agriculture.

In the vicinity of Wellenstein a dead rabbit was found a few days ago along a country road. It was taken to the veterinary and food laboratory (LVA) on Monday, because on April 3 a rabbit was detected in the young lens of the pathogen of tularemia. Two days later, the authorities had the positive test result of the second rabbit, as the Ministry of Agriculture announced on Wednesday.
