The nitrogen specter is back in The Hague. The discussion is completely heated, now that PVV and BBB want the government to stop focusing blindly on the goals. PVV leader Geert Wilders wants to ‘stop with those crazy nitrogen rules’, BBB deputy prime minister Mona Keijzer says: “It is completely out of balance.” Her party colleague and State Secretary for Agriculture Jean Rummenie even calls a new nitrogen lock ‘economic suicide’.
Once again, the differences within the cabinet are becoming clear, now that the PVV and BBB openly repeat that the current nitrogen targets need to be revised. However, NSC and the VVD have so far remained opponents of abandoning the nitrogen target, reports the AD.
