On Thursday, the Sejm (lower house of parliament) debated the 2027 state budget. It became a battleground between the government and the opposition. The coalition argues that high spending is necessary for security, healthcare, energy transition, and economic development. The opposition, however, warns that the deficit remains very high and public debt is approaching dangerous levels.

At the same time, they point to Finance Minister Andrzej Domański as the culprit behind the growing national debt, which is running at around one billion złoty per day.
The Sejm will discuss the draft state budget for 2027. "Donald Tusk's government is deliberately driving us up a wall. (...) Perhaps the idea behind this is to drive us into a serious crisis and force Poland to join the eurozone," said Zbigniew Kuźmiuk (PiS).
