Paris Saint-Germain Strengthens Its Attack Further by Signing Winger Mika Godts From Ajax
PSG bolster their attack with the signing of Mika Godts, who joins from Ajax after a breakout season where he scored 17 goals and provided 15 assists.
On Saturday, Paris Saint-Germain announced the signing of Belgian winger Mika Godts from Ajax on a five-year contract for €55 million , including performance-based bonuses.
After coming through the academy at Genk, the winger made 115 appearances for Ajax, totalling 54 goal involvements. The 21-year-old earned a Belgium national team call-up following his breakout season last year, recording 17 goals and 15 assists in 44 matches.
Earlier on Saturday, PSG signed Spain forward Ferran Torres from Barcelona for €50 million. Godts joins an attacking lineup already featuring Ballon d'Or winner Ousmane Dembélé, France forwards Désiré Doué and Bradley Barcola, and Georgia star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
"I feel incredibly proud to be joining one of the best clubs in the world," Godts said in a statement. The new recruit joins the squad as PSG faces Lens in the French Champions' Trophy on Sunday.
PSG recently secured the UEFA Super Cup with a win against Aston Villa on Wednesday. The club now begins its Ligue 1 title defense against Rennes next weekend, testing the depth of its reshaped attacking roster.
PARIS (AP) — The reigning champion of the Champions League, Paris Saint-Germain, further reinforced his attack by signing Mika Godts, from the Dutch club Ajax, on a five-year contract.
With his mega-transfer to Paris Saint-Germain, Mika Godts has broken into the top 10 of the most expensive Eredivisie sales ever. That list is dominated by former Ajax players anyway.
