PS5 Update Lets You Turn on Display Names, Adds Trending Now and Top 10 Views, and More
The update also adds a voice-chat speaker indicator, a Community Activity widget and stability improvements, Sony said.
On Wednesday, Sony released PS5 system software update 26.06-14.00.00, which automatically enables Enhanced PSSR Image Quality for PS5 Pro consoles. The feature provides a "sharper and clearer visual experience."
Enhanced PSSR functions even for games designed around the previous version of PSSR, allowing players to enjoy improved visuals without developers needing to release individual updates for every supported title.
The update adds a Community Activity widget to the Welcome Hub, displaying Trending Now games and a Top 10 list of titles "surging in popularity." Players can also enable a voice-chat speaker indicator to see who is speaking.
Owners can disable the enhanced upscaling via Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output. Users can customize the voice-chat speaker indicator by selecting Position after enabling Display Names in the voice-chat card.
Alongside the PS5 improvements, Sony released a system software update for the PS4. The company also launched exclusive Marvel's Wolverine, which includes 17 essential tips and tricks to help players get started.
Sony released an upgrade to the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro, which adds several new features. The PS5 Pro owners have the most notable change: the improved PSSR is now defaulted.
