The nitrogen zones around four nature reserves in Gelderland are officially in effect. A majority of Gelderland politicians agreed to this on Wednesday evening. It did not happen without a struggle. Because the BBB was divided, the coalition had to make a sacrifice.
On Wednesday, Gelderland adopted its policy to reduce nitrogen emissions. The aim is to restore nature and get the permitting process underway. This should make construction and business expansions possible again. It certainly did not happen without a struggle. Support had to be sought from the left-wing opposition because the BoerBurgerBeweging (BBB) 'failed to deliver'.
