An hour after the plan and after signing his first decrees, the President delivered his first address from the government house. There he was expected by adherents with flags and banners. In his speech he stressed that one of his priorities is security.

It has passed everything in these three absurd months, because of its endless extension, in which the transfer of command takes place in Chile. The lapse of time is ridiculously long and, I suppose, it will be one of the first reforms that should be adopted unanimously in Congress.
During his first speech, Kast said that the country's 'real adversaries' are not those who think differently, but crime, drug trafficking and irregular migration.
With Chile described as a country in crisis – the previous government’s fault – President José Antonio Kast laid hands on two symbolic pillars to justify his road map: faith and political “character.”
