The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, addressed the gathered supporters of the Serbian Progressive Party in front of the premises on Sava Venec during the protests across Serbia, unannounced, and said that more SNS supporters had gathered than protesters.
President Vučić called opposition demonstrators "hooligans" at his Belgrade camp of supporters.
New anti-government protests took place in several Serbian cities on Wednesday evening, with violence breaking out in some places, including Belgrade, Novi Sad and Niš. Interior Minister Ivica Dačić said police used "minimal force". It was not immediately clear how many people were arrested.
