Protesters ‘to hold banners in support of banned Palestine Action’ over weekend
UNITED KINGDOM, JUL 11 – Protests will support Palestine Action despite terror designation, with police warning that support is a criminal offence punishable by up to 14 years in prison.
- The UK government proscribed Palestine Action as a terrorist organization on 4 July 2025, and Parliament voted 385-26 to ban it under the Terrorism Act 2000.
- The ban followed Palestine Action’s vandalism of two RAF Brize Norton Voyager aircraft on 20 June, causing about £7 million in damage as claimed by the group.
- Since the proscription, protests supporting Palestine Action have occurred across the UK and European cities, with at least 29 arrested last weekend in London, including an 83-year-old priest.
- Roger Waters publicly supported Palestine Action on 5 July 2025 with a sign and a video stating they are "absolutely not terrorist in any way," while authorities stress membership or support carries up to 14 years imprisonment.
- Activists plan another wave of protests this weekend in London, Manchester, Cardiff, and Derry, asserting the government’s ban suppresses democratic rights and warning that opposition to the ban will grow.
