Hedgehogs, young birds or toads are often killed by mowers who travel at night. The Austrian Animal Welfare Association points out this and demands a night driving ban.

In order to protect hedgehogs and other animals, the Greens demand a nocturnal ban on mowers. The use of the equipment on non-economically used lawns and green areas should be prohibited in the period between dawn and sunrise – as the Landtag faction wants it to be specified in the Bavarian Nature Conservation Act.
