'Prolific waste criminal' ordered to pay £1.4m for illegal dumping at 16 sites

  • Images show hundreds of wrapped bales at Middleton Nature Reserve, and officials found rubbish at farms and a historic manor house; Farrar said, `Smell and flies were a feature at some of the illegal sites and caused a localised adverse effect to air quality`.
  • He was ordered to repay 1.1m plus £100,000 in compensation and £200,000 in prosecution costs, and received a four-month suspended prison sentence, rehabilitation, and unpaid work.
  • The Environment Agency uncovered a network of 16 illegal dumping sites across the country, and officials pledged tougher action after a June 3, 2025, guilty plea from Bashir, who admitted causing waste at three sites.
