The 27 leaders gathered within the European Council recommended that the European Commission take the following steps towards the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the EU and also appreciated the progress made by Chisinau during its European course.
The conclusions adopted at the summit of the European Council of 26 June 2025 formally confirm the progress made by the Republic of Moldova in the accession process to the European Union and invite the Council of the European Union to open its first round of negotiations – which aims at fundamental values.
