William to Stage ‘Children’s Earthshot’ at His Environmental Awards in Mumbai
Fifteen young teams will present ideas and workshops as the prince expands his planet-repair project for children.
Prince William will host the sixth annual Earthshot Prize in Mumbai next month, featuring a new 'Children's Earthshot' awards for 15 young finalists from India.
The inaugural 'I CAN Earthshot Challenge' invited children aged 9 to 17 across India to propose environmental solutions, with entries ranging from waterlogged playgrounds to combatting pollution in the Godavari River.
Fifteen teams have been selected for a two-day program at the Museum of Solutions in Mumbai, where winning entries receive $2,000 grants. "The next generation is not waiting," Jason Knauf, CEO of The Earthshot Prize, said.
The Children's Earthshot ceremony is scheduled for November 17, coinciding with the main Earthshot Prize event where William will preside over the awarding of £5 million in prize money.
This initiative is part of a decade-long cycle to reward environmental innovations, following previous ceremonies held in London, Singapore, Cape Town, Boston, and Rio de Janeiro.
