Prince William praises 'inspiring' Kevin Sinfield

Kevin Sinfield’s 7in7together challenge raised over £1 million for Motor Neurone Disease, supporting care and research in memory of Rob Burrow, officials said.

  • As of Saturday afternoon, Sinfield had raised more than 1m, which will be donated to six MND charities, ahead of his homecoming in Leeds on Sunday.
  • Starting on Monday, the six-year tradition honours Rob Burrow as Kevin Sinfield embarks on the 7 in 7 challenge for his sixth annual fundraiser, having raised over 10 million before.
  • Battling weather and emotion, Kevin Sinfield called his penultimate day 'tricky' and met Melanie Sieniawski, who thanked him, saying, 'What you are doing is amazing, thank you'.
  • Royal praise amplified public attention on the fundraising drive as Prince William wrote, 'Kevin, huge congratulations on nearing the finish of your incredible 7 in 7 challenge!' praising Sinfield's inspiring commitment to Rob Burrow and those affected by MND.
  • The Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease was opened last month by Prince of Wales, who joined Sinfield, Macy, Maya and Jackson, and Lindsey, with every mile raising funds for care and research.
