The Chairperson of the European Commission, Urusula von der Lien, called on Serbia to take "specific steps" towards accession to the European Union, in particular to ensure the rule of law, reform the electoral system and freedom of the media, which she announced on Wednesday, 15 October, in Belgrade, at a joint press conference with the President of the country, Alexander Vuccic.

Serbian Prime Minister Đuro Macut told European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen today that Serbia's membership in the European Union is a strategic priority and stressed the government's readiness to continue implementing reforms in line with European standards. "Full membership in the EU remains our clear and permanent strategic commitment, from which we have never given up," said the Serbian Prime Minister.
