President Trump to host rally in San Antonio next week
The rally will feature Ken Paxton and Carlos De La Cruz as Republicans work to boost turnout in two competitive South Texas House races.
President Donald Trump will hold a rally tomorrow, Wednesday, Oct. 7, at Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio, featuring Republican congressional nominee Carlos De La Cruz and U.S. Senate candidate Ken Paxton.
The event centers on the newly formed 35th Congressional District, redrawn by the Texas Legislature to help the GOP secure a U.S. House majority, which House Speaker Mike Johnson dubbed the "whole enchilada."
De La Cruz, an Air Force veteran and brother of U.S. Rep. Monica De La Cruz, faces Democrat Johnny Garcia, a Bexar County sheriff's deputy, backed by $4 million in No Going Back PAC spending.
Republicans have invested nearly $175 million to defend the Senate seat, as polling indicates Paxton trails Democratic nominee James Talarico in an increasingly competitive race unsettling long-standing GOP control.
Trump's visit aims to mobilize his 2024 coalition as the GOP fights to maintain a razor-thin House majority amid polling showing Democrats leading about 8 points on the generic ballot.
