Premium Bonds Holders Urged to Check as Several £100,000 Prizes Remain Unclaimed
UNITED KINGDOM, AUG 4 – Over 2.5 million unclaimed Premium Bond prizes totaling more than £100 million include 11 jackpots of £100,000, mainly due to outdated contact details, NS&I reports.
- National Savings & Investments has disclosed that over £100 million in Premium Bonds winnings have yet to be claimed by holders throughout the UK as of 2025.
- This situation arises partly because around one in ten prize payments are made by cheque, which often go uncashed, and older paper bonds are hard to trace.
- NS&I operates monthly tax-free cash prize draws, awarding up to £1 million per prize and making two millionaires every draw since 1957.
- Andrew Westhead, NS&I’s retail director, noted that the £103 million in unclaimed prizes accounts for only 0.28% of the more than £37 billion distributed by ERNIE since the lottery began almost 70 years ago.
- The unclaimed prizes highlight a need for improved tracing processes, as many holders lack updated details, but NS&I aims to reunite owners through enhanced services like online tracing and MyLostAccount.
