PPE Medpro must repay £122 million after supplying non-sterile gowns during COVID-19; the company disputes the ruling but is open to settlement talks, court ruled.
- Earlier this month the High Court ordered PPE Medpro to repay nearly £122 million to the Government over a Covid-19 gowns contract.
- The DHSC sued after finding PPE Medpro supplied 25 million gowns that, Mrs Justice Cockerill ruled, were not contractually sterile and unusable in the NHS.
- Settlement talks reportedly included offers with �25 million, which were rejected, while Medpro UK spent �4.3 million defending its position.
- Earlier this month PPE Medpro filed to enter administration and consortium partners said they are prepared to enter dialogue with administrators to discuss a possible settlement with the Government.
- The contracts were awarded after Baroness Michelle Mone recommended the consortium to ministers, and partners linked to Baroness Michelle Mone were ordered to repay millions.
