Pounded yam recall issued after “temporary breakdown,” FDA says
The 64-ounce packages contain milk as sodium caseinate, and Fayus Inc. said a production and packaging breakdown left the allergen off the label.
The Food and Drug Administration announced a recall for Ola-Ola Pounded Yam this week due to undeclared milk, addressing a labeling error regarding the presence of dairy in the product.
Fayus Inc., doing business as Yusol International Foods in Sacramento, California, attributed the issue to a 'temporary breakdown' between production and packaging processes.
Affected 64-ounce packages feature expiration dates ranging from November 2028 to May 2029, and the FDA noted these items were sold in clear bags.
Fayus Inc. advises individuals with milk allergies or sensitivities not to consume the pounded yam, while customers may return items for a properly labeled replacement.
Distribution spanned California, Georgia, Illinois, New Jersey, New York, Texas, Canada, and Australia between December 2025 and May 2026, preventing potential allergic reactions from the undeclared allergen.
