Hackers claim to have exfiltrated Pornhub Premium users' personal and viewing data from Mixpanel and sent an extortion email, affecting multiple customers including SoundCloud and OpenAI.
- On December 12, Pornhub confirmed it was impacted by the November Mixpanel breach and said only Pornhub Premium members were affected, while ShinyHunters told TechCrunch it demanded Bitcoin in an extortion email.
- Right before the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday, Mixpanel disclosed the breach it discovered on November 8 affecting around 8,000 customers with varying data exposure based on configuration.
- Analysis of the stolen files shows hackers accessed 94GB of data with 200 million records, including emails and locations, while Pornhub says passwords and payment details remain secure; at least three former Pornhub customers confirmed some data as authentic.
