Popular star announces wrestling hiatus after being released from AEW

Trey Miguel announced on his Instagram story Sunday that he is taking a hiatus from pro wrestling, saying 'Taking a break from wrestling', after a report indicated his AEW release.
Last week, reports said all four members of The Rascalz were joining AEW and the group was teased on AEW television on Wednesday before debuting in a backstage Collision segment.
Miguel is a former two-time TNA X Division Champion and won the TNA World Tag Team Championship alongside Zachary Wentz, while the 31-year-old did not join his Rascalz teammates in 2020 when Dezmond Xavier and Wentz moved to WWE NXT as MSK.
The Rascalz now face a changed lineup that alters AEW and TNA booking expectations, as the faction will be without one of its mainstays for the foreseeable future.
The Wrestling Observer reported on Monday the decision to cut Miguel came above AEW owner Tony Khan's head, with many speculating past social posts played a role and Miguel's return timeline unclear.
