Polling location at Ohio elementary school evacuated due to bomb threat
Officials brought extra voting machines outside before the polling site reopened inside shortly after noon, the Lucas County Board of Elections said.
On Election Day, Tuesday, voters at Beverly Elementary in Toledo were evacuated after an apparent bomb threat. Toledo Public Schools officials confirmed the threat arrived just before 10:50 a.m., temporarily disrupting voting.
Authorities reported that five other area schools also received threats, including Conneaut Elementary and Kenwood Elementary in Bowling Green, and Lake Local Schools. Police deemed both threats not credible.
Lucas County Board of Elections Director Lavera Scott arranged for additional voting machines to be brought outside during the evacuation. This allowed residents to continue casting ballots while law enforcement investigated.
Voting resumed inside Beverly Elementary shortly after noon once officials deemed the building safe. The BOE thanked poll workers, first responders, and voters for their professionalism and patience.
Elections continue throughout Lucas County as normal. The BOE stated they remain committed to providing secure, fair, and efficient elections despite any challenges encountered during the voting process.
