Police Panel Rules on Ex Copper's 'Sexualised' Actions to Female Colleagues
The panel said Cameron Challis would have been dismissed and added him to the College of Policing’s barred list after finding repeated unwanted conduct.
Thames Valley Police determined that former officer Cameron Challis would have been dismissed following an accelerated misconduct hearing chaired by Chief Constable Jason Hogg on Monday, October 5, though Challis had already resigned from the force.
Panel members found Challis engaged in a sustained course of unwanted conduct toward colleagues, including inappropriate touching without consent and sexualized comments made during work social events.
Evidence reviewed by the panel included CCTV footage and testimony detailing remarks such as "I want to know what you taste like" and "Let's have sex," deemed "unwanted, sexually inappropriate, degrading and disrespectful."
Although Challis resigned, he has been placed on the Barred List, preventing future employment in the Policing profession; the panel concluded a final written warning lasting four years was the appropriate sanction.
Despite noting Challis was "diligent and professional" in other duties, the panel concluded his behavior breached Standards of Professional Behaviour and expressed concern about his lack of insight into his actions.
