'Significant' Investigation After Boy, 8, Sexually Assaulted at Campsite
DRUMNADROCHIT, HIGHLANDS, SCOTLAND, JUL 31 – Police Scotland is conducting extensive inquiries and urging witnesses to come forward as specialist officers support the victim and his family after the assault.
- On Thursday, Police Scotland launched a manhunt after an eight-year-old boy was sexually assaulted in his tent at Loch Ness Bay Campsite, Drumnadrochit.
- Between 12.20am and 1am on Thursday, the white man aged between 35 and 50 years, around 5ft 10ins tall and bald, approached the boy’s tent during the attack.
- Specialist officers are supporting the boy and his family, and investigations include local area enquiries and CCTV review, Detective Inspector Christopher Macleod said.
- Residents received reassurances from police presence, with officers swarming the campsite and promising extra patrols to reassure the local community.
- Detectives appealed to campers for help and asked anyone with information to call Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 0167 of July 31, 2025.
