CENTRAL KOOTENAY, BRITISH COLUMBIA, AUG 5 – Police issued 360 speeding tickets and launched 24 drug impairment investigations to enforce road safety during and after the Shambhala Music Festival, officials said.
- On August 5, RCMP reported they issued over 800 tickets, towed 60 vehicles, and handed out 59 one-day suspensions during the Shambhala Music Festival near Salmo.
- Amid growing safety concerns, the summer impaired driving campaign started on June 15 and runs until the end of August, RCMP report, focusing on removing impaired drivers and unsafe vehicles.
- Between July 21 and July 25, B.C. Highway Patrol set up checkpoints on Salmo mountain passes, issuing over 360 tickets, including 360 for speeding, during the festival.
