Police Investigate Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor Over Alleged Sexual Misconduct and Corruption in Public Office
Police are assessing sexual offence claims and a woman’s allegation that she was trafficked to Royal Lodge for sex in 2010.
Thames Valley detectives are investigating Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor for potential misconduct in public office, including sexual misconduct and corruption, following his February arrest on his 66th birthday.
The investigation stems from his 2010-11 tenure as trade envoy, when he allegedly forwarded confidential reports on visits to Singapore, Hong Kong, and Vietnam to Jeffrey Epstein; newly released files show Queen Elizabeth pressed for Andrew to be given the role.
Assistant Chief Constable Oliver Wright said there are a "number of aspects of alleged misconduct that the investigation is examining," including claims that a woman was trafficked to the UK by Epstein for a sexual encounter with Andrew.
Detectives are working to secure evidence showing Andrew met the definition of a "public official" during his envoy role, seeking advice from the Crown Prosecution Service, while the King has pledged royal cooperation with the investigation.
The royal family has been dogged for more than 15 years by allegations regarding Andrew's relationship with Epstein; Wright stated that "whenever a victim survivor is ready to engage with us, we're ready for you.
The investigation against Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is expanding – now the police are also investigating allegations of sexual nature. What is behind this?
