Michael Hightower, accused of brutally attacking elderly Daytona College owners Nancy and Roger Bradley in their school's parking lot, allegedly shot a police officer in the leg with his own gun while hospitalized — and was already on pretrial release in a separate hit-and-run case at the time of the attack.

A man and woman brutally attacked outside Daytona College remain hospitalized and on life support, according to an arrest affidavit for the alleged suspect. That same suspect is accused of grabbing an officer's gun and shooting him in the leg while being treated at the hospital.
