BREAKING: Police Confirm Explosion, One Person Injured at Lagos Market
Police said one person was injured and the area was swept clean after the device exploded under a parked Toyota Sienna.
- On Monday, Lagos State Commissioner of Police Fatai Tijani confirmed an Improvised Explosive Device detonated at the Shoe Materials Market in Mushin, injuring one person who remained in stable condition.
- The explosion occurred at about 6 am at 22 Wey Street, Oke Mushin, when the victim started his Toyota Sienna, detonating the device planted underneath the passenger side.
- Following the blast, police cordoned off the area and deployed operatives from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit, which conducted a thorough sweep confirming no additional explosive devices remained.
- The Baale of Oke Mushin, Chief Tajudeen Lasisi Farunbi, received a distress call shortly after the blast and alerted police, then advised residents to avoid the damaged vehicle until security secured the scene.
- Police have launched a full investigation to determine those responsible for the explosion, while Tijani assured residents the area is now certified safe and they can resume normal activities.
