Woman Killed, Man Shot Himself in Intimate Partner Violence Case: Barrie Police
Police say a firearm was recovered and no charges are expected after the deaths of a 45-year-old woman and 46-year-old man.
On Thursday, The Barrie Police Service confirmed that deaths of a couple at a north-end home in Barrie, Ont., on Saturday, June 20, were a murder-suicide resulting from intimate partner violence.
Responding to a wellness check around 9 a.m. on June 20, officers discovered the bodies of a 46-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman inside a residence on Peregrine Road, near Vincent Street and Osprey Ridge Road.
Police stated Thursday that "the woman's death has been deemed a homicide, while the man is believed to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound," and they recovered a firearm from the scene.
Investigators have confirmed there are no outstanding suspects in the case, and police state no charges are expected as a result of the findings.
Out of respect for the family, police will not publicly identify the pair involved or provide further details regarding the incident.
