Police Car Set Alight in Glasgow Amid Bonfire Night Trouble
One ambulance worker was hurt and a police van was seriously damaged as officers responded to an injured man, police said.
On Thursday evening, police and ambulance crews were attacked in Riddrie, Glasgow, while responding to an injured man, and a police vehicle was set alight and seriously damaged during the assault.
Operation Amberlight, a major policing initiative for Bonfire Night, deployed officers from England and Wales, mounting Police Scotland's largest deployment since US President Donald Trump's visit last year.
Earlier in the evening, youths launched fireworks at officers in Edinburgh's Oxgangs and Colinton Mains, while the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service extinguished bins set alight in the road.
One male was arrested following the Riddrie attack, a paramedic sustained a minor injury, and emergency crews withdrew from the scene to ensure safety.
Chief Superintendent David Robertson had instructed officers to be 'proactive, decisive and disciplined' before deployment, and police maintain a presence in affected areas as inquiries continue.
