Glasgow Cops Seize Fireworks Worth £12k in 'One of Scotland's Biggest Recoveries'
Police said the haul was due to be sold online and could have been used to target the public and emergency workers.
On Tuesday, Police Scotland officers executed a warrant at a property in the Penilee area of Glasgow, seizing 350kg of fireworks worth £12,000 in what is believed to be one of the largest recoveries in Scotland.
Police say the fireworks were intended for online sale before Bonfire Night, with officers adding the haul could have been used to commit disorder or "target" the public and emergency workers this week.
Local Area Commander Chief Inspector William Campbell credited the seizure to effective community policing after Police Scotland received 144 fireworks-related calls on Halloween, with some items capable of firing 600 individual rockets.
No officers were injured during the operation, and inquiries to identify those involved remain ongoing; a report regarding the recovery will be submitted to the Procurators Fiscal.
Firework Control Zones are currently in place across 14 areas in Edinburgh and four in Glasgow to maintain public safety, following reports of fireworks thrown at people and buildings.
