Pogacar to Skip Vuelta a Espana After 'Demanding' Tour De France
ÎLE-DE-FRANCE, FRANCE, JUL 29 – Pogacar will rest after his fourth Tour de France win and skip the Vuelta a Espana, aiming to compete later in Canada and at the World Championships, his team said.
- UAE Team Emirates confirmed Tadej Pogacar will skip the Vuelta a Espana next month after his Tour de France victory.
- Pogacar explained that after such a demanding Tour, UAE Team Emirates decided he should take a break, admitting 'the body is telling me to rest.'
- Pogacar has not raced in the Vuelta since 2019, and UAE Team Emirates-XRG named an eight-man squad without him. The race starts in Turin, Italy, on August 23, and ends in Madrid on September 14.
- In Pogacar’s absence, Jonas Vingegaard is now the favourite, with UAE Team Emirates co-leaders Joao Almeida and Juan Ayuso. Pogacar said he will take a break after the Tour.
- Ahead of the World Championships in Kigali, Pogacar plans to race the Grand Prix Cycliste de Quebec and Montreal in mid-September, and he said he aims to return to form.
