- Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for development projects worth over Rs 18,000 crore during his visit to Surat on Friday.
- Four National Highway projects, two packages of the Vadodara Mumbai Expressway, and eight Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation initiatives comprise the development plan targeting infrastructure and drainage management across South Gujarat.
- Built at Rs 7,689 crore, the Vadodara Mumbai Expressway features 70 underpasses and major bridges. Foundation stones will be laid for projects worth Rs 4,732 crore on four National Highway routes.
- Infrastructure upgrades in Bharuch and Valsad strengthen effluent disposal and drainage systems. Projects on National Highway 53, including a 6-lane flyover, ensure smooth movement of heavy goods traffic toward Hazira Port.
- The new corridor will reduce travel time by around 40 minutes and increase average vehicle speed by nearly 75%, connecting pharma and medical clusters while improving access to tribal districts including Narmada, Tapi, Valsad, and Chhota Udepur.
