Leaders of the five largest emerging economies (Brics) agreed at the group's summit in Johannesburg on its expansion and accepted conditions for entry, South African Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor said. The enlargement is supported by all group countries but diverge in the number of new members and the timing of their adoption.

The BRICS countries want to expand their summit meetings in the future, and Brazil's president is once again pushing for a common currency. A cancelled speech by China's head of state Xi is a mystery.
