- Last month, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda announced Mutfwang's defection on December 17, 2025 at the APC's 14th National Caucus in Abuja, while commissioners and local government chairmen decamped early.
- One early resignation was Hon. Bashir Lawandi Datti, Commissioner for Water Resources and Energy, who wrote to the Abba Na Shehu Ward chairman, Jos North LGA, joined by Hon. Ibrahim Musa Ashoms on December 29, 2025, and Hon. Nura Shehu resigned last month.
- Governor Caleb Mutfwang said the defection to APC would spur qualitative leadership with purposeful direction, pledged unity, and promised support for President Bola Tinubu's 2027 re-election bid.
