Plane Owned by Scripps Research CEO Goes Missing over the Pacific Ocean
NEW SOUTH WALES, JUL 16 – The search involves multiple agencies using helicopters and jets in difficult snowy terrain with temperatures as low as 4C, as the pilot remains missing after the plane vanished.
- On Tuesday, a small plane carrying one person from Wangaratta failed to land at Moruya Airport at about 4.30pm, indicating it went missing.
- After the aircraft never arrived at Moruya Airport, authorities traced its last known position to Khancoban, where police believe it crashed about 500m off the Dargals Trail.
- An AMSA Challenger jet and two rescue helicopters assisted the air search from 12pm, with Dan Gillis saying 'They're doing their best...' amid challenging terrain and weather.
- The aerial search was suspended at around 4pm Wednesday due to limited visibility, and it is scheduled to resume on 17 July.
- Despite recent snowfalls, NSW Police Alpine Operations Unit and SES will continue efforts until last light today and restart at first light tomorrow, spokeswoman said.
