Europol supported a global operation against human trafficking conducted by 59 countries, resulting in the detection of 2 070 potential victims and the arrest of 1 024 suspects, 334 of which are suspected of human trafficking. A worldwide operation of Interpol resulted in the detention of more than a thousand people involved in human trafficking schemes. The operation identified 2,070 victims or possible victims, the overwhelming majority of whom were women, aimed at sexual exploitation and Latin America.
Three suspects were arrested and eight victims of human trafficking were identified in Portugal during the international operation “Global Chain,” carried out between June 8 and 12 in 59 countries. The operation, coordinated by Europol, Frontex, and Interpol, involved thousands of officers and had as its main objective combating networks dedicated to the exploitation of human beings.
A global police crackdown on human trafficking has arrested over 1,000 people and identified over 2,000 victims, the international police organization Interpol announced today, coordinating the operation that took place in June on five continents. 59 countries, including the Czech Republic, participated in it.
