Disney’s Pixar Names Jonathan Garson President as Jim Morris Steps Back
Jonathan Garson will oversee production and operations, while Jim Morris shifts to mentoring and special projects after 12 years as president.
On Wednesday, The Walt Disney Company announced that Pixar general manager Jonathan Garson will become president of Pixar Animation Studios on January 4, 2027, succeeding Jim Morris, who transitions to president emeritus.
Morris, who served as president for 12 years since 2005, will step back from day-to-day leadership as part of a planned succession, distinct from broader corporate workforce reductions.
During Morris's tenure, Pixar films generated more than $12 billion globally, while Garson, a Disney veteran of more than 30 years, has worked closely with the studio's creative teams since 2010.
Jonas Rivera moves into an expanded role as Executive Vice President of Creative, partnering with Chief Creative Officer Pete Docter, while Garson and Morris will report to Disney Entertainment Studios Chairman Alan Bergman.
Morris will remain involved as executive producer for Incredibles 3, due June 16, 2028, alongside upcoming releases Gatto in March 2027 and Ghost Market in March 2028.
