Determined residents raised money over two years to get the Latham Island playground’s soccer pitch into good shape. It was inadequate due to being uneven. The physical labour took place during a weekend earlier this month as a work bee was held to smooth out the soil and lay plenty of sod to make the field usable for local soccer players.
