Pirates Place CF Oneil Cruz on 10-Day Injured List with Broken Left Hand
The move leaves Pittsburgh without Oneil Cruz, who is hitting .264 with 14 home runs and 44 RBIs, while Billy Cooke was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis.
The Pittsburgh Pirates placed center fielder Oneil Cruz on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday with a broken left hand, retroactive to Monday.
Cruz sustained the injury sliding into the plate during the fourth inning of a loss to Atlanta on Saturday; tests revealed non-displaced fractures between his ring finger and pinkie.
The Pirates must navigate the Central division without one of their most productive hitters, as Cruz is hitting.264 with 14 home runs, 44 RBIs, and 98 strikeouts.
Pittsburgh recalled utility player Billy Cooke from Triple-A Indianapolis to fill the roster spot; Cooke is hitting.190 in 32 games this year.
Henry Davis was placed on the paternity list, and Rafael Flores was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis to take the roster spot.
