Pinterest deepens Amazon partnership with $4 billion cloud deal
The social media company said the deal will support AI tools, including personalized search and generative retrieval, as it expands use of Amazon’s custom chips.
Pinterest announced a $4 billion commitment to Amazon Web Services for cloud services through 2031, marking the company's largest-ever deal to strengthen AI infrastructure.
To compete against rivals like TikTok and Meta's Instagram and Facebook, Pinterest aims to enhance search and shopping experiences for over 600 million monthly active users.
Utilizing Amazon's custom silicon, including Graviton and Trainium processors, Pinterest plans to diversify compute usage. "This expanded commitment with AWS gives us the compute flexibility," Chief Technology Officer Matt Madrigal said.
Shares of Pinterest rose 5.85% to $21.88 on Thursday, reflecting broader market strength as the Dow Jones and S&P 500 also posted gains.
Wall Street maintains a Buy rating on the stock with an average price target of $26.96 ahead of the next estimated financial update on August 6, 2026.
